The MEET programme wishes to inculcate the values expressed by the Council of Europe and by Kristiansand Commune’s “city for all” vision. The MEET concept was developed as a response to the European Conference on Democracy and Human Rights.

3rd European Conference on Democracy and Human Rights 5th May 2022

The European Conference on Democracy and Human Rights is held every year on Europe Day on 5 May, in collaboration with the Council of Europe. The theme of this year’s conference is freedom of expression, and the three sessions will focus on artificial intelligence and digital platforms, implementation of existing commitments, and freedom of artistic expression. The 3rd Conference brings together an impressive range of regional and national leaders from across Europe, as well as officials, thinkers and activists.

Event Addressing Challenges of Islamophobia in Europe 6th May 2022

Many of the issues discussed in the 3rd European Conference directly affect Muslims living in Europe. A meeting on 6 May 2022 will unpack those themes specifically in the context of Muslim communities. Hosted by the University of Agder, it will bring together Muslim leaders and activists from across Europe. The aim is to understand the problems Muslims face and share approaches to addressing those, thereby promoting lesson learning and wider implementation of effective interventions. The event will also launch the MEET programme.

EMuslim European Engagement Program – Addressing The Challenges Of Islamophobia In The Light Of European Democratic Values
